Once we understand that the Fall happened and impacted everything, the Book of Genesis, the foundation of the Bible, reads differently.

Genesis 1-2 – The Law of 7 and the process of creation
“On the seventh day God rested.” (Genesis 2:2)
The opening account of the Genesis describes more than the creation of the earth; it describes the 7-stage process that underlies all creation.

Genesis 3:6 – Adam, Eve and the apple: choice or dilemma?
“The woman stared at the fruit. It looked beautiful and tasty.” (Genesis 3:6)
Eve has been given a bad rap for causing the Fall. But was it really a choice, or a dilemma?

Genesis 3:10 – The source of anxiety is sexual shame
“I was naked, and when I heard you walking through the garden, I was frightened and hid!” (Genesis 3:10)
The sexual shame of the Fall underlies all our modern anxieties.

Genesis 3:16 – The rule of masculine over feminine
“Then the Lord said to the woman, ‘You will suffer terribly when you give birth. But you will still desire your husband, and he will rule over you.’” (Genesis 3:16)
Understanding the balance of masculine and feminine energies is critical to understanding the New Earth.

Genesis 5 – The myth of Adam as the first man
“God created men and women to be like himself. He gave them his blessing and called them human beings. This is a list of the descendants of Adam, the first man.” (Genesis 5:1-2)
Humans were around long before the Fall; we must understand ‘Adam’ as a generic term and not referring to a single individual.

Genesis 17 – God traumatises His own creation
“You and all future members of your family must promise to obey me. As the sign that you are keeping this promise, you must circumcise every man and boy in your family.” (Genesis 17:9-11)
The Bible’s account of Abraham circumcising his people omits more than it includes.

Genesis 19 – The strange tale of Sodom and Gomorrah
“The sun was coming up as Lot reached the town of Zoar, and the Lord sent burning sulphur down like rain on Sodom and Gomorrah.” (Genesis 19:23-24)
Angelic tactical nuclear strike, or desertification leaving characteristic salt pillars?

Genesis 22 – Child sacrifice was a trauma response
“Go get Isaac, your only son, the one you dearly love! Take him to the land of Moriah, and I will show you a mountain where you must sacrifice him to me on the fires of an altar.” (Genesis 22:2)
How do you reframe abandoning your own children to death? You kill them (to spare them a drawn-out death through starvation) then make their death worthwhile by offering them to appease the gods and bring rain.

Genesis 38:9 – Onan, spilled seed, and levirate marriage
“Onan knew the child would not be his, and when he had sex with Tamar, he made sure she would not get pregnant.” (Genesis 38:9)
Onan is the world’s best-known masturbator, yet that was not his crime.
